Selling ACEO original painting on Ebay. Don't make this mistake

I made a mistake that may have cost me a sell on sell ebay.  I listed a new ACEO for St. Patrick's day after three days there were no bids. This started to freak me out. So I open the listing and went over it line by line and sure enough there was a huge mistake in the listing. The listing is an original  painting which with starting price of $79.99. Well someone and that would be me had put in big bold letters " Limited Edition Print ". All my prints are listed $9.99 . Everyone who viewed this listing thought he must be crazy try to get that price. So why did this happen. Well I use templates for my listing to list them faster. The template I have been using is for my prints. It is the only one I have updated since Ebay made changes to the way you list items. Ebay has been making it harder over the last few years when it comes to selling. Anyway My biggest mistake was not checking my listing multiple time before put it online. When selling on Ebay before you list an item all use the preview button before you list. Make sure you read your listing line by line and then read it again. I did check it once ,but missed this big mistake.

There are only two days left for this little gem to sell . I'm going outside to try to find a four leaf clover to bring me some luck.       

SAINT PATRICK'S DAY ACRYLIC PAINTING IDEAS FOR EBAY ACEO

Saint Patrick's Day is just around the corner and I have been scratching my head for ideas on a new ACEO to list on Ebay. I found this one when looking through past aceo files. It spurred a some good concepts to work with. So the next step is to put pencil to paper. Once the idea is flushed out. I have been mostly working in acrylic to do these. Slowly moving more and more in to gauche.
   

WATERFALL FANTASY ACRYLIC PAINTING THAT JUST MEANT TO MAKE YOU RELAX IN PARADISE AND BE AT PEACE

   I just finished this acrylic painting. It was done for a client as the cover of a poetry book. The painting was done in acrylics on watercolor paper and then given a few coats of varnish. The concept was original painted as an ACEO. I did a series of waterfall scenes all of which were meant relax you and bring peace to your life. I sold this series on ebay. It did extremely well. It was super exciting when I was contacted to paint larger version this one. I put it on the Fine Art America website that I am a member of. On this site you can purchase different items with the image printed on it. Things like phone cases, prints, mugs etc. So far I put about five paintings on Fine Art America. Give it a look and I'm always listing new original paintings and limited print on Ebay

Flores the mouse new aceo painting on ebay

Listed this little painting on ebay today. I love the colors on this one hope it does well. It was painted in gouache and acrylic. The title of it is "Little Flores surrounded by Spring". Flores is flowers in latin.
I put the link If anyone would like to see the listing. Listing on Ebay has been fun over the years. But it has become more of a challenge the past few months Ebay keeps changing thing and making it harder to sell. So I looking into Shopify and Etsy.

 I watched a youtube video where an amazing artist named Chuck Black had done a painting on wood bark. I thought wow I want give that a try. I remembered seeing the bark at Michaels art store. The next time went there I bought this little piece. I painted this peaceful snowy landscape. Painting this reminded me of how I used to paint on anything when as a kid.                                                                                                          This painting is done in arylices. The surface was coated with three coats of gesso. Each coat is lightly sanded. The composition was laid in using cobalt blue. The full color palette was cobalt blue,cerulean,viridian  ,cad yellow light,burnt sienna, alizarin crimson,white and black. Then to protect the painting and bring out the color the paint was given several coats of clear. I was super pleased with the finale product and plan to do some more of these when I get a chance.

I enjoyed doing this little watercolor. It was a escape from doing my normal landscapes for dollhouse paintings. It was painted with transparent glazes. I tend to paint more opaque even with watercolor. Doing this one hellp to free my mind from all the static. Almost like meditation. I listed on ebay hope it does well.

Painted in watercolor on 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper by Canson.
I used Rosemary & Co paintbrushes. The watercolors are called Fine touch tubed. I'm not sure who makes them. Starting did a quick pencil sketch and then laying in the color. The painting was done with no background. This was to keep a graphic feel. 

HOW SMALL CAN WE GO

These are a small selection of really tiny paintings. Mostly done in acrylic. When I scan them to post or list I like to add coins or items to show a size relationship. This help people see how small they actually are. Putting as much detail as possible is really important when doing these. In the fantasy landscape with the castle if you look close you an even see the the road I painted in leading to the castle. The sunset landscape the woman's detail and proportions were super important. If she appeared awarked the painting would fall apart. The sense of depth in the barn landscape set this one apart. I love this one. The mice painting has a great exciting feel. This is done by the use of opposing angles and use of action lines in the figures.      

 

In this one you can see could fit on a dime and the castle is the size of a quarter

The barn and the cow could fit inside the dime in this wonderful little landscape

             This little cutie is setoff by the sax that would fit on the nickle.

THE ART OF PAINTING MINIATURES

Hi, everyone! In the past few years I have been creating tiny paintings in various mediums. I love doing  these small works of art. Most of these painting are done to be sold on Ebay. Although I do paintings in all sizes from half inch to murals this blog is mainly about miniatures. There may be some crossover posts when related. The purpose of this blog is to share my work, creative process, different techniques, successes and failures,and to give helpful tutorials on painting tiny works of art.

This is an ACEO I listed on Ebay for Christmas . It was painted  with acrylic and gouache.

What is an ACEO? ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals. They must be 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. They can be any style and subject on any substrate. This one was painted on 140lb. watercolor paper.
